Roderick H Brooks CBE

Roderick (Rory) Brooks is a British businessman and philanthropist. He and his wife Elizabeth established the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Foundation which, in 2005, funded the Brooks World Poverty Institute at The University of Manchester. In 2016, the Brooks World Poverty Institute merged with the Institute of Development Policy and Management to form the Global Development Institute (GDI), Europe’s largest research and teaching institute for international development. The Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Foundation continues to support the GDI through the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Doctoral College, which is based in the GDI.

He co-founded the international private equity group MML Capital Partners in 1989 and has led investments into and served as a director of numerous MML portfolio companies including BPC, Ferembal, Sicli, Century Inns, Eurofarad, Polestar, Xtreme, GlobeOp and Hawkpoint.

He was awarded the CBE in 2015 for his services to Philanthropy.
