Join Manchester Day of Action – Greater Manchester Area – Monday, 26 September
Take part in this year’s Manchester Day of Action in the Wigan and Leigh area of Greater Manchester.
When: Monday, 26 September 2022, 9.30am – 4pm, with a 10 am start
Where: The Brickworks, 4 Hodson Street, Wigan, WN3 4EN (near Go Outdoors).
There is parking but it is limited.
Emma Shaw The Brickworks Volunteer Coordinator can help you find somewhere to park.
The main task of the day is to spruce up the garden area. We have a small garden at the side of the property, planters, and lots of green overgrowth! The garden area has not been maintained for a while!
What you will be doing
On arrival, you will be briefed on your tasks for the day and given refreshments.
What you will need to bring
Please wear comfortable, casual clothes and footwear. Clothes that you do not mind getting dirty! Do make sure you consider the weather.
Do bring your own water/drinks as the work can be quite strenuous!
The Brickworks has a small canteen, where you would be able to have lunch. If you want to bring your own packed lunch, this is also welcome.
Who are Brick Works
The Brick Works offers training to increase the employment opportunities for people who are unemployed for a variety of reasons.
This may include homelessness or recently housed people referred by the Brick, people who have been released from prison, people with mental health issues, people with low employability skills, and the long term unemployed. The Brick Works has a small staff team, mentors running their own small businesses, and volunteer mentors. Recycling and reuse is key to the Brick Works.
The Brick Works is also open to the public for the sale of recycled, upcycled and handmade furniture and other items. It is also the home of Gearing Up, our renowned in-house bicycle repair shop.
