Volunteer on campus

You can help students by contributing an experience-based talk, providing feedback on a project or attending a recruitment event such as an open day.

Meet the Professionals

With 89% of student participants telling us they discovered career paths they didn’t previously know about, you can inspire the next generation by volunteering at an award-winning Meet the Professionals speed networking event.

How speed networking works

You’ll spend about ten minutes with a small group of students who studied the same or a similar degree to you, sharing expertise and answering questions about your career. After ten minutes, the students will move onto the next graduate and you’ll meet a new group.

Afterwards, you’ll be able to continue your conversations with our students and network with your fellow alumni volunteers over light refreshments.

Example timetable

Timings vary from event-to-event and are likely to change.

  • Registration, 15 minutes
  • Welcome and introductions, 15 minutes
  • Speed networking, 60 minutes
  • Refreshments and informal networking, 30 minutes

Volunteer

Meet the Professionals events run from September to July, usually on weekday evenings from 5pm to 7.30pm but occasionally earlier in the day.

Careers Panel

How Careers Panel events work

Appearing on a panel with fellow alumni who studied the same or a similar degree to you, you’ll spend a few minutes each talking to a room of students about your career before answering questions from the audience.

The events finish with an informal networking during which you’ll be able to continue conversations with our students and meet with our other alumni volunteers.

Open days

You can help prospective students choose Manchester by sharing your advice and first-hand experience with them at an open day.
